Thank Governor Newsom: No Executions in CA

On Wednesday, March 13, 2019, Governor Gavin Newsom made history when he announced a moratorium on executions in California, the state with the largest death row in the country.

Since it’s reinstatement in 1978, California’s death penalty has been proven to be plagued with racial bias. It's broken beyond repair.

The governor’s decision to say “no” to executions is an important step forward.

Add your name to thank Governor Newsom for his leadership in charting a more just, fair, and racially equitable course for California.

Dear Governor Newsom,

Thank you for your leadership in moving California toward a vision of true justice, racial equity, and dignity for all.

For far too long, California has wasted millions of taxpayer dollars to prop up a death penalty system that risks executing innocent people, is broken beyond repair, and is deeply rooted in racism.

Thank you for saying “no” to executions in California and for charting a more just, fair, and racially equitable course for our state.
