Tell District Attorneys You Support State Question 780 Retroactivity

As an active voter, I am concerned with recent messages and actions from the District Attorney’s Council around criminal justice reform measures at the Capitol this legislative session, in particular State Question 780 retroactivity.

As an elected official, I put faith in the fact that you will represent our community needs and listen to our collective voices when advocating and working at the Capitol with our legislators.

I urge you to support meaningful criminal justice reform this session and not water down bills that could have a major impact in our community, as well as our state. Voters voted in favor of State Question 780 and support creating a process of retroactively applying its terms to the over 1,000 people currently incarcerated for convictions for which the penalty has been reduced (SB 357, SB 276, HB 1269).

Thank you for your time. I look forward to seeing your contributions to the change our criminal justice system so desperately needs. Having the highest incarceration rate per capita in the world is nothing to be proud of.
