Tell Maine Legislators: NO on 1833

Dear Maine Legislators,

Last year, over 100 people turned out at the State House to urge you to reject the anti-immigrant bill, LD 366. You listened.

Now you are being asked to consider virtually the same anti-immigrant bill yet again. We urge you to reject LD 1833 just as you rejected LD 366.

So-called "anti-sanctuary city" bills are bad for Maine. They make immigrants feel scared and unwelcome. They compromise the ability of law enforcement to do their jobs. They undermine the Constitution by promoting racial profiling and unlawful detention.

Local governments should not be forced to choose between their budgets and the safety and constitutional rights of their residents.

Please reject LD 1833.
