No To Death Penalty

Abolish The Death Penalty Now

State by state, our country is moving away from the death penalty because it is racist, arbitrary, inhumane, and prone to error. Yet, in the last seven days, we have witnessed more executions than in any week-long period in decades.

Add your name to the ACLU's call for an end to these horrific executions now.

Make no mistake: The death penalty in America is built upon a legacy of racial-terror lynchings and is fundamentally flawed from start to finish. Between 1973 and 2024, 200 innocent death row prisoners were exonerated and released. Of those exonerees, more than half have been Black. What's more, Black men are overrepresented on America's death rows in proportion to their representation in America – and 100% of studies of race in jury selection have found that prosecutors disproportionately remove Black jurors from capital juries.

The fact is, the U.S. stands with a minority of countries in the world that still sentence people to death. And even within our own country, capital punishment has been losing public support for decades. Only a small number of states are executing a large number of people. The majority of individuals in this country support an alternative to execution, and want a fair and just criminal legal system.

The time has come for America to end this failed experiment: Add your name to our collective call for humanity and demand an end to the death penalty once and for all.

WE, THE PEOPLE, DEMAND AN END TO THE DEATH PENALTY. Capital punishment is a deeply racist, inhumane, and flawed system. It is past time for our government to put it to an end. I am part of the millions of Americans who support the end of state-sanctioned murder – and adding my name to amplify our collective calls to abolish the death penalty once and for all.
