The Trump administration is unlawfully blocking critical medical research in order to censor views it disagrees with, on everything from gender identity to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) to climate change.

These reckless actions have disrupted research and clinical trials on diseases and chronic conditions, including Alzheimer's, cancer, HIV, substance use disorders, heart attacks, and strokes – undermining decades of scientific progress and threatening public health outcomes nationwide. Research that could help medical professionals understand, prevent, and treat these conditions should not be abandoned because this administration doesn't like the conclusions the research might come to.

Federal funding for medical research should be driven by science, not ideological agendas. Tell Congress to demand the National Institutes of Health (NIH) restore terminated grants and stop its censorship campaign.

The Trump administration's censorship and termination of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) research grants based on the views it believes researchers will express is a blatant and illegal abuse of power that puts political ideology above science. While NIH can change its funding priorities consistent with governing statutes and regulations, it cannot use ideological criteria to suppress disfavored views. NIH's viewpoint purge threatens decades of medical progress, cuts off patients from lifesaving clinical trials, and sets a dangerous precedent – allowing any president to weaponize federal research funding in an effort to force ideological conformity.

As your constituent, I urge you to reject this blatant and illegal abuse of power. Please prioritize science and public health over political ideology and restore these grants.
