Currently there is no oversight, transparency, or accountability for the surveillance technology used by the Cincinnati Police Department. Add your name to this petition to create a system where communities are at the forefront of these decisions.

The increasing use of surveillance technologies by local police across America, especially against communities of color and other unjustly targeted groups, is creating oppressive and stigmatizing environments in which every community member is treated like an enemy of the state or a prospective criminal. Many marginalized communities have been turned into open air prisons, where residents’ public behavior is monitored and scrutinized 24 hours a day. These spying technologies are acquired by local government officials, often without knowledge or input from the public until it's too late.

This process has been condemned by groups across the political spectrum as antithetical to good government transparency and accountability principles.

A CCOPS ordinance in Cincinnati will ensure residents are involved in these critical government decisions that harm our privacy rights. This is a matter of public safety and civil liberties.
