Stop mid-decade redistricting in Tennessee

The message:

At President Trump's urging, Governor Lee is calling a special legislative session to redraw congressional district maps, with the specific goal of targeting the state's only majority-minority district in Memphis.

The special session comes on the heels of a devastating Supreme Court ruling that eviscerated Section 2 of the Voting Rights Act, permitting states to use mid-decade redistricting to deny Black voters a voice in their government.

Targeting people for how they have voted, no matter which side does it, hurts voters and undermines democratic representation by elected officials. Voters should be able to choose their leaders – not the other way around.

This effort to break a majority Black district significantly impacts our democratic process and aligns Tennessee with a dangerous and discriminatory practice of voter suppression, with voters of color feeling the brunt.

Take action against mid-decade redistricting that suppresses the vote of Black Tennesseans. Tell legislators you OPPOSE redrawing congressional maps.
