The message:

Tennessee lawmakers are considering HB 1474/SB 2409 that would prohibit any Pride flag or emblem on government property or by government employees. It also prohibits Tennessee government institutions and employees, in their official capacity, from recognizing Pride Month. Please note, this link will take you to a third-party website, tn.gov

The dangers of HB 1474/SB 2409 are clear. It would:

  • Target LGBTQIA+ people: This bill clearly discriminates against LGBTQIA+ people who live, work, and love in Tennessee, sending a message that entire groups of people are unwelcome in our state.
  • Show Tennessee is out of the loop: Thousands of people participate in Pride Month around the country; New York's Pride parade attracted over 2 million spectators in 2025. Tennessee is choosing to exclude allies, visitors, and LGBTQIA+ people from our cities.
  • Remove support for LGBTQIA+ government employees: This bill denies LGBTQIA+ state employees and their allies from creating a supportive work environment, damaging retention rates and employee satisfaction.

Tell your representative to vote "No" on HB 1474/SB 2409 and support a welcoming Tennessee.
