We recently uncovered state documents that confirm detailed site plans for a proposed immigrant detention facility that Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) is seeking to create at 50 Robert Milligan Parkway in Merrimack, New Hampshire.

We are deeply concerned about what a facility intended to aid in the Trump administration's mass deportation agenda – whether in Merrimack or anywhere across New Hampshire – would do not just to our immigrant communities, but also to people across the Granite State.

As your constituent, I'm writing to urge you to stop ICE from creating a human warehouse located at 50 Robert Milligan Parkway in Merrimack.

Facilities like this have, for years, been proven to be plagued by human and civil rights violations, and New Hampshire's governor should not stand by and allow these horrors to happen in our state. That’s against the fabric of who we are.
 
That’s why there is bipartisan agreement, from both local and state leaders in Merrimack and across the state, that this plan should not be allowed to become reality in our state.
 
In addition to my profound concerns over the conditions with which these people will be subjected to, there are many more questions than answers about what a facility like this means for Granite Staters: What would ICE's increased presence in our state do to our communities? Will there be fiscal implications for taxpayers? What is the environmental and sanitation impact on the nearby town and land of converting the property from a warehouse to a detention facility that will hold up to 1,500 people, especially given that the facility is in an Aquifer Conservation District?  
 
Immigrants in New Hampshire deserve to be treated with dignity, not cruelty. These are our family and our neighbors who are being ripped out of their homes and workplaces. They should not be detained and jailed in a warehouse indefinitely in Merrimack (or anywhere else) just to serve the Trump administration’s political agenda.

This unspeakable cruelty is not what Granite Staters like me stand for. As your constituent, I urge you to work across New Hampshire communities and political parties to ensure this plan does not come to fruition.
