Since January, immigrants in New Jersey and around the country have been the target of unprecedented attacks by the Trump administration. From attacks on birthright citizenship and due process to the turbocharging of immigration enforcement and detention, the threats to immigrants and their families are escalating. And with the passage of the federal budget reconciliation bill, which funnels $75 billion to ICE, the attacks will only get worse.
Now, more than ever, we need state lawmakers to stand with immigrant New Jerseyans. That means passing S5036/A6308, S5037/A6309, and S5038/ A6310 now.
This moment calls for action and leadership. New Jersey can join other states, like Delaware, California, Connecticut, Illinois, and Washington, in standing with immigrant communities and ending its role in the federal detention and deportation system. I urge you to vote "yes" in support of the immigrant protections package, and to help build a stronger, fairer, and more welcoming New Jersey for everyone who calls this state home.
