We all want to live in safer communities.

Pledge to Attend A Public Safety Town Hall With the Governor

Governor Lujan Grisham will visit communities across the state this week for a series of town halls on public safety. Will you join us in attending one of these events to tell her that we want real solutions to the root issues of crime in our state?

The schedule of town halls include:

  • Thursday, July 25 - Las Cruces - 5:30 P.M., Las Cruces Convention Center
  • Monday, July 29 - Albuquerque - 5:30 P.M., CNM Main Campus, Smith Brasher Hall
  • Tuesday, July 30 - Española - 5:30 P.M., Northern New Mexico College Event Center

Community organizations, advocates, and mental health professionals have been calling on our elected leaders to hear our concerns, and work with us to pass legislation that incorporates stakeholder feedback. We know that we can’t arrest or punish our way out of homelessness, poverty, and addiction. We also know that scare tactics and scapegoating don’t make our communities any safer.

We all want safe communities, but the governor’s proposals in the past relied on failed strategies that will not advance public safety in New Mexico — while posing serious risks to the rights, dignity, health, and autonomy of New Mexicans.
