Take Action: Stop SB 2753!

Act Now

SB 2753, also known as the SAFER Act, poses a significant threat to the privacy and freedoms of all Mississippians.

This wide-reaching bill mandates that individuals utilize bathrooms, changing rooms, and other private spaces based solely on their assigned sex at birth. This legislation undermines the fundamental rights of all Mississippians and poses a significant and unnecessary risk to our transgender community.

This bill:

Threatens privacy: SB 2753 incentivizes ordinary citizens to question and police the sex of those they encounter in private spaces. This erosion of privacy undermines the basic dignity of all Mississippians—no one should be forced to disclose private, personal medical information in public spaces.

Endangers transgender Mississippians: Transgender individuals already face disproportionate risks of discrimination and violence. By enforcing rigid bathroom and facility usage based on sex assigned at birth, SB 2753 exacerbates these dangers and further marginalizes and endangers transgender people in our state.

Segregates campus life: The bill's provisions extend into educational settings, including college and university dorms. Mandating single-sex housing based on assigned birth sex not only violates the autonomy and rights of students but also enforces unnecessary segregation and exclusion within campus life.

By addressing problems that do not exist in our state, SB 2753 creates significant new risks and infringes upon the rights and privacy of all Mississippians.

We need your help—act now and send a message to the Speaker of the House Jason White now urging him to block this bad bill.
