Recent victories at the Supreme Court have helped ensure that LGBTQ people are treated equally under the law. But these court decisions are not enough. There are still critical gaps in our nondiscrimination laws that leave LGBTQ Texans at risk for discrimination that affects their health, livelihoods, and a sense of safety and belonging.
Now is the time to take the extra step to pass statewide comprehensive nondiscrimination protections during the next Texas legislative session in 2021. It is up to us to ensure that LGBTQ Texans are fully respected and accepted in their daily lives. We don't need to wait for any court to tell us what our rights are.
