A recent ACLU investigative report exposed inhumane conditions and shocking lack of medical care at the for-profit GEO detention center in Aurora, which currently holds up to 1,500 detainees – many of whom are asylum seekers with no access to legal representation.
Now, Westminster plans to open a facility for unaccompanied children — despite accusations of abuse at similar facilities across the U.S.
We are asking our state legislators to create oversight and accountability at all privately run facilities, to prohibit new detention facilities, and create a statewide legal defense fund to ensure all Coloradans are represented in immigration court.
