Toward a Shared Vision of Smart Justice in Louisiana: Briefing and Panel Discussion

Toward a Shared Vision of Smart Justice in Louisiana: Briefing and Panel Discussion

Presented by the ACLU of Louisiana and the Urban Institute

Sponsored by: Right on Crime, The Pelican Institute, Committee on 100, Vera Institute of Justice, and Americans for Prosperity

Over the last several years, a broad bipartisan coalition of lawmakers, district attorneys, sheriffs, judges, crime survivors, formerly incarcerated people, business leaders, and others has helped Louisiana shed its title as the world’s prison capital and implement reforms that are making our communities smarter and safer.

Today, as Louisiana looks to build on the progress of the Justice Reinvestment Package, the ACLU of Louisiana’s Smart Justice Blueprint offers a roadmap for continuing to reduce incarceration and investing in people, not prisons.

Please join the ACLU of Louisiana and the Urban Institute on Friday, June 21 for a briefing about the report’s findings, and to hear from criminal justice reform experts from across the political spectrum about the next steps for reform.

Friday, June 21, 12 - 1:30 p.m.
