The Next Generation Society of the ACLU is a diverse group of activists, professionals, artists, emerging leaders, and other engaged citizens committed to supporting the essential work of the ACLU and safeguarding civil liberties for future generations. ACLU Next Generation members are committed to playing an active role in the key issues that will shape our future.

The Society and its Members help support the ACLU’s essential work in Illinois and throughout the nation, including efforts to reimagine policing in America, end mass incarceration, reform the criminal legal system, defend reproductive freedom, promote LGBTQ rights, protect privacy in the digital age, and more. Thanks to the commitment of ACLU Next Generation members, the Next Generation Society of the ACLU fully funds an ACLU staff attorney position each year - the Next Generation Society Staff Attorney.

Members of the Society get exclusive access to Society and ACLU events, receive in-depth ACLU news and analysis, and have other unique opportunities to join in discussions about the most important issues in America today. In addition, Society Members are among the first to be notified about opportunities to volunteer, protest, and help the ACLU as it fights to preserve our liberties. All society members are invited to an exclusive event at the ACLU once a year to celebrate the work of the Next Generation Society of the ACLU and hear from ACLU experts on the most pressing issues facing our communities.
