On April 27, 2005, the House passed the Child Interstate Abortion Notification Act by a vote of 270 to
157. The ACLU opposed this legislation because it endangers young women's health and forces teens
from troubled homes into dangerous situations. The bill would restrict a teenager's ability to obtain an
abortion in a state where she does not reside if she does not first comply with a complex system of
parental notification mandates.
