On March 2, 2005, the House rejected, by a vote of 186 to 239, an amendment to the Job Training
Improvement Act protecting against religious discrimination in tax-payer funded job training programs. As introduced, this bill would eliminate those protections. The ACLU supported this amendment because it would have restored the protections in current law against government funded religious discrimination.
